Growing your own food is experiencing an explosion in interest, and no wonder given the numerous scares related to industrial farming of both the vegetable and animal kind.

Whereas once it was commonplace for every household to grow at least some of their own produce, nowadays fruit, veg and herb growing is seen as an esoteric pastime requiring years of experience.

Not true.

Given a little effort, everyone can enjoy growing and eating at least a little of their own produce, whether it’s a few cuttings from a herb plant on a windowsill, or a glut of courgettes that threatens to overwhelm the appetite of even the most hungry vegetable grower.

Now, I’m no expert on this lark having only been doing it for a few years, but nonetheless I hope that some of what I write here will be of use to others, and likewise I hope that any howlers I make will be forgiven by those with greener fingers than myself :)

Enjoy the harvest!
